Kade started Sunbeams on Sunday January 1, 2011. I thought it was fun that the Sunday he started Sunbeams also happened to be the very first Sunday of the year. Kade was really excited to go to Sunbeams! They have been taking his nursery class for singing time the past two months and he has loved that, so knowing that he would get to stay for the entire thing really made him happy!
Kade loved his class and was so excited because they gave him his very own Book of Mormon to take home along with a little green bag and a book mark. Now he sleeps with his scriptures and uses them to pretend read. He thinks he can use them to sing the hymns and church and to answer any question we ask him. I’m glad he likes them so much! Since he got the scriptures, we have read out of them every night. We used to use the “My First Book of Mormon”, but it’s been fun reading out of the real scriptures. We each (Emery included) read two verses a night. It’s slow going, but we have done it every night since Kade got the scriptures!
Oh this picture makes me laugh. Probably because I know that the expression on his face portrays exactly what he is thinking about Emery!
We came home from church (we are at 1:00 again… not my favorite) and Kade went to the couch and fell asleep holding his Book of Mormon.
And now for a bunch more silly stories about Kade. Kade got this toy for Christmas from his Daddy and he loves it. He loves making the teeth and drilling on them and brushing them. I love that it keeps him entertained for a long time. I don’t love when all the colors of play dough get mixed up! Sterling and he were playing with it and Sterling would say, “Okay Kade, we need a bicuspid (or whatever tooth he would say)” and Kade would happily say, “One more tooth, coming right up!”
One day at church we were singing the opening hymn and I told Sterling that I didn’t know where we were in the music. Well I actually said, “I don’t know where we are!” to which Kade replied, “Mom, you’re at church!” Thanks Kade!
Kade had the hiccups and kept saying, “What’s my body doing?!” He was very concerned that he couldn’t control when his body would hiccup.
Kade helped Emery say our family prayer and did such a good job. His little voice and how he said each phrase was just so cute. And Emery copied every word. I love it!
Kade loves to make up songs. I can’t put an example of what he says because the words are never real words and the tunes are most always made up. Sometimes he picks a tune that he knows but most of the time the words are completely made up!
In the past few weeks Kade has told Sterling and I things like, “I love your big face. I love your big nose. I love your big toes. I love your big belly (that would be to me only). I love your big head.”
Kade has decided he loves my hair down. When my hair is pinned up, he tells me he doesn’t like it. I took it down after being bobby pinned up (when wet) and walked out of the bathroom and ran into Kade. He exclaimed that he loved my hair and it was perfect! Now if you have ever seen my hair when I take it down after being bobby pinned up all day you know it’s FAR from perfect, but he loved it and it made me smile! He will see a pictures of me with my hair down and say, “Oh I love that hair!” He also likes my pony tail and will tell me he loves it randomly.
When Kade tries to tell us that he’s not going to do something again, he will say, “I’m never not going to _______.” For example, he will say, “I’m never not going to hit Emery again Mom” or, “I’m never not going to run away from you at the store.” Fortunately he doesn’t know he’s doing a double negative there. Or does he?
When Kade saw something really big (I can’t remember what it was), he said, “That’s the biggest (thing) I’ve never seen!” I corrected him and said, “It’s I’ve ever seen Kade.” and he said, “But Mom, I’ve never seen a (thing) that big!” Funny how kids minds work!
